Cambridge Who's Who Names Ann Therriault, Ph.D. Professional of the Year in Applied Science and Technology

Dr. Ann Therriault utilizes her scientific knowledge for the betterment of humanity

OTTAWA, ON, CANADA, September 26, 2011 /Environment PR News/ -- Dr. Ann Therriault, Manager of Earth Materials Collections for Natural Resources Canada, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Applied Science and Technology. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Dr. Therriault's expertise is in planetary geology and the study of terrestrial impact craters. As manager of earth materials collections for Natural Resources Canada, she is responsible for developing and maintaining the organization's earth materials collections, conducting educational presentations on geology and paleontology, addressing Earth's environmental history, and discussing the history and importance of Canada's geology as it relates to the development of the country and the lives of its citizens.

Dr. Therriault hails from Sept-Iles, a small city on the northern shore of Quebec near the famous Manicouagan Crater. In high school, she dreamed of traveling to space and walking on another planet. She received a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, with a concentration in impact craters, from the University of Ottawa in 2001, and has written and published many scientific articles linked to her studies of impact craters and impact metamorphism. Dr. Therriault became involved in her profession because she wanted to work for the benefit of humanity. She attributes her success to the support and encouragement of her parents, who taught her that she could achieve anything to which she put her mind. She is a supporter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and various cancer research organizations and is a member of the Club Richelieu. In the future, she hopes to work as a director or director general with Natural Resources Canada.

Natural Resources Canada is a governmental organization that provides research and development of Canada's natural resources along with policies and programs that enhance the contribution of the natural resources sector to the economy. For more information, visit http://www.nrcan.gc.ca.
