James Fredrick Sorensen Named a Cambridge Who's Who "Professional of the Year in Green Construction"

With 42 years of professional experience, Mr. Sorensen is the owner of Harmony Creek Building and Design as well as Shanaroba Organic Farm

    CARBONDALE, CO, October 26, 2011 /Environment PR News/ -- James Frederick Sorensen, Owner of Harmony Creek Building, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Construction. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Harmony Creek Building and Design is a general contracting firm that has received national recognition for constructing super insulated, energy efficient homes utilizing renewable energy sources including solar, photovoltaic and geothermal. Mr. Sorensen was named the Congressional Business Advisory Council Businessman of the Year for 2004 and 2005 and received the Ronald Reagan Gold Medal Award, the Congressional Medal of Distinction for Outstanding Meritorious Service, and the Senatorial Certification of Merit. He was twice awarded the Senatorial American Spirit Medal whose prior recipients include President Ronald Reagan, England's Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, and General Norman Schwarzkopf.

National committees Mr. Sorensen has served on for energy issues and the preservation of the wilderness include: the US Senate Presidential Round Table, the U.S. House of Representatives Majority Trust as Honorary Chairman, the Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council. He is a Commissioned Member of the Senatorial Inner Circle representing the State of Colorado.

An avid horseman and long standing advocate and lobbyist for the environment, Mr. Sorensen was the recipient of the Arizona Missouri Fox Trotters Association Environmental Award. He is affiliated with the Roaring Fork Valley Horse Council as Vice President, Three Rivers Back Country Horseman as Trail Preservation Chairman, the US Forest Service as a volunteer wilderness ranger, and the Bureau of Land Management as a range land technician.

Shanaroba Organic Farm raises open range, cage free Heritage Turkey Varieties, organic garden produce and Missouri Fox Trotter Horses. Shanaroba turkeys have been featured in numerous articles including the prestigious Aspen Magazine and used in preparation for the Iron Chef TV program. The farm has been instrumental in the Slow Food movement and Rare Species Preservation programs. Mr. Sorensen was appointed the North American Delegate to Tierra Madre in Turin, Italy, representing the United States in the Heritage Turkey industry. He presents educational "Turkey Talks" at some of Colorado's finest culinary institutes, local schools, churches, and Boy Scout programs. His document on Heritage Turkeys was used as a study text at the Universita Di Scienze Gastronomiche in Italy.
