Global Opportunities in Developing Unconventional Gas Operations

*Europe is the world's second-largest natural gas market and demand is continuing to rise, particularly as a preferred fuel for power generation.

September 22, 2011 /Environment PR News/ -- *Europe is the world's second-largest natural gas market and demand is continuing to rise, particularly as a preferred fuel for power generation. The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates there are about 920 trillion cubic meters of unconventional gas around the world, though only about 35 trillion cubic meters are in Europe. The basins in Europe are generally smaller than what is found in North America and Asia.

/EINPresswire.com/In Europe, unconventional gas potential has been identified in Poland, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Ukraine, Romania, Turkey and the UK. Exploration activity is underway in some areas, but it will likely be years before the full potential is realised. In the meantime, the more advanced North American production system will free up LNG shipments for Europe, broadening the scope of potential energy supply across Europe.

SMi Group's 5th Unconventional Gas conference will break the mould from previous events and investigate the shale, tight gas and coal bed methane opportunities from developing areas of the globe with case studies from projects in North Africa, the Middle East, the UK and Europe.

A line up of leading industry experts will address the challenges of extracting value from what have been previously regarded as unfeasible and uneconomical fields. Case studies will examine on-going projects from major international operators and will take a look at the future of Unconventional Gas.
