The City of Takoma Park Awards Solar Solution, LLC With a PPA That Will Save the County $189,000 in Energy Costs

The city of Takoma Park has gone green by installing a 94KW system which will help offset approximately 40% of their power.

WASHINGTON, DC, July 31, 2011 /Environment PR News/ -- The city of Takoma Park awarded Solar Solution, LLC today with a power purchase agreement (PPA) that will help save the county and its tax payers over $189,000.00 in energy costs during the life of the contract. Solar Solution will design, install and own this system. The City of Takoma Park had previously installed a 15Kw system in 2009 during a major renovation that included a new theater and a new roof.

Solar Solution Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) allows business owners and residences to go green without having to pay any initial capital that are common with large solar systems. All the capital needed is paid for by Solar Solution, LLC and the electricity that is produced by the system is sold at a discounted rate to the building owner. Typical rates are anywhere from 20 to 45% below current market rates. This gives businesses and residences an instant savings on their bills and also makes for a great green image in the community.
