Plumb Center Welcomes the Renewable Heat Premium Payment

Plumb Center has welcomed the announcement on the Renewable Heat Premium Payment by the Department of Energy and Climate Change as a positive step in the right direction.

SALISBURY, ENGLAND, July 27, 2011 /Environment PR News/ -- Plumb Center has welcomed the announcement on the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) as a positive step in the right direction.

"We are pleased that the government has pledged GBP15 million for the generation of renewable heat,' said Simon Allan, Director of Renewables, Plumb Center. "Up to 25,000 installations will be generated as a result of this incentive which is great news for our customers. Plus, it starts on August 1st which is traditionally a quieter time for installers so it will bring them a much needed boost at a time when businesses across the board are being affected by the economic downturn.

"The solar thermal incentive of GBP300 is particularly welcome as it is applicable to any home and it offers about a 10% saving on the cost of a system. It should, therefore, achieve payback in about 10 years. If it also qualifies for the Renewable Heat Incentive due to be introduced in 2012, by meeting the eligibility criteria, homeowners should really start noticing the financial benefits."

The RHPP scheme will give money to householders to help them buy renewable heating technologies - solar thermal panels, heat pumps and biomass boilers. As from next year, the Renewable Heat Incentive will expand to cover the domestic sector and the Green Deal will come into force, so this is a short-term scheme making one-off payments that will also allow the government to learn more about what people think of these technologies and how they perform in a variety of conditions.

Those taking up the RHPP will be eligible for a RHI tariff from October next year when the Green Deal begins, as will anyone else who has had eligible equipment installed from July 2009, providing they meet the eligibility criteria.
