Symphony Environmental-USA Distribution Agreement and Major US PR Campaign
Symphony has signed a 25-year distribution agreement with the United States of America, and started a major US PR campaign.
LONDON, ENGLAND, February 25, 2011 /Environment PR News/ -- Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc the specialist in degradable plastics is pleased to announce that it has signed a 25-year distribution agreement for its d2w and d2p additives and other products throughout the United States of America ("USA"), and has embarked on a major market research and public relations campaign in the US, using one of the world's largest PR companies.
This is a major milestone for Symphony, which has grown in less than five years from a loss-making, UK-centred company selling plastic bags - to a profitable international technology company, operating in 92 countries through 63 Distributors, and numbering some of the world's largest companies among its customers. Symphony is listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, and its shares are also traded through an ADR facility in New York.
The core of Symphony's business is a suite of chemical formulations called d2w, which turn plastic at the end of its service-life into a material with a completely different molecular structure. At that stage it is no longer a plastic and can be safely bioassimilated in the open environment in the same way as a leaf. Governments have begun to realise the importance of this technology to protect their landscape and coastal areas from long-term plastic pollution, and the Government of the UAE has made its use compulsory for many plastic products.

Symphony's d2w technology is in competition with bio-based degradable plastics, most of which are designed for industrial composting and will not readily degrade in the open environment.

Last year Symphony introduced an anti-microbial technology under its d2p trademark which can be used in most types of plastic products to reduce the spread of infection. It has also introduced a hand-held device called "d2Detector" which can be used to detect counterfeiting.
