Mayor Dennis Travale of Norfolk County Reveals to Energy Digital How Renewable Energy Will Boost Ontario's Economy

In an interview with Energy Digital, Don Boyle, Chief Administrative Officer of the Haldimand County discusses increased development, clean energy and the county's role in the Green Energy Hub.

SAN DIEGO, CA, November 18, 2010 /Environment PR News/ -- In an interview with Energy Digital, Mayor Dennis Travale discusses the role of renewable energy in the Norfolk County's economic development and growth.

Located in Ontario, Norfolk is looking to take advantage of the Ontario Green Energy Act by attracting green energy companies and industries to the area, particularly companies focused on wind and solar energy. Additionally, Norfolk is part of South Central Ontario Region (SCOR) Economic Development Corporation, a partnership between the counties of Brant, Elgin, Middlesex, Norfolk and Oxford. According to Mayor Travale, SCOR was developed to address the question, "How do we diversify a predominantly rural and small urban environment to other things?"

"While we were very much in tune with the Green Energy Agenda, we thought instead of just accepting these large wind and solar installations, perhaps some of the generation of the economy around the production of these things should happen out here as well," says Mayor Travale in the interview. "We didn't want to get left out of the jobs side of the equation so we formed the Green Energy Hub to make sure we have a say in that matter." Read the full article.
