As head of BioExcellence Consulting, Maureen B. Dupuis acts as a Radiation Safety Officer and Biosafety Officer. She often spends time on site, reviewing and maintaining necessary regulatory compliance-related paperwork, and providing strategic support services to clients as needed. Ms. Dupuis also attends monthly Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and Biosafety Officer meetings, conducts laboratory inspections for biological safety, provides gap analyses of clients' environmental health and safety programs to identify strengths and weaknesses, and maintains regulatory compliance for clients. Maureen B. Dupuis is recognized by her peers for her skills in conducting training on Radiation Safety, Biological Safety, Chemical Safety, U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines for bloodborne pathogens, OSHA Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) standard, the U.S. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the U.S. Department of Transportation/International Air Transport Association requirements, and other training. Ms. Dupuis has years of experience serving on various committees including Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBC), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC), Human Subjects Committees (Institutional Review Board, or IRB), as well as other Institutional Safety Committees.

Ms. Dupuis has consulted at various biomedical and biotechnology institutes to ensure employee safety and compliance with local and federal regulatory agencies. She is adept at calming people who are stressed and anxious about a situation. She either solves the problem herself, at the request of the client, or holds the client's hand through the process of regaining regulatory compliance. She is an experienced trainer and public speaker, able to communicate effectively with both specialist and nonspecialist groups. She has served as a technical spokesperson in a number of public and agency settings and has served as a guest speaker for the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society Initiation at Emmanuel College in 2000 and at Emmanuel College's Women in Science Reunion.

A Registered Biosafety Professional through the American Biological Safety Association, Ms. Dupuis is a member of Harvard University's Committee on Microbiological Safety, the Northeast Biological Safety Association, the American Biological Safety Association, the American Society for Microbiology, the National Safety Council, Connecticut United for Research Excellence, Inc., the National Science Teachers Association, and the Environmental Business Council of New England.

She is a Commonwealth of Massachusetts certified Wastewater Operator Grade 2Industrial-Full, Certified Wastewater Operator Grade I-Industrial-Full, and a Harvard University-certified Radiation Safety Officer. Ms. Dupuis attends numerous conferences and seminars to keep abreast of developments in her field.

The highlight of her career was being praised by a regulatory inspector when she had to meet with him in place of a colleague who was negligent in a permitting process. Although Ms. Dupuis felt nervous, she calmly gave the inspector all the facts and data he needed. He responded by telling her she had a strong sense of character and a willingness to do what is right in the face of adversity; his praise has stayed with her.
