Iberdrola to Add More Wind Capacity in Hungary

Iberdrola Renovables leads the Eastern European wind power industry with projects in Romania, Poland, Hungary, Estonia and Bulgaria.

August 04, 2010 /Environment PR News/ -- Spanish wind energy conglomerate Iberdrola Renovables announced it will build four new wind farms in Hungary, adding wind power capacity of 158 megawatts (MW) to the country's energy supply.

Iberdrola already operates the country's largest wind farm, Kisigmand, and said its aggregate capacity of 160 MW and 50% market share will make it Hungary's largest wind power operator.

This capacity will enable the company to generate enough energy in Hungary to supply 220,000 households, while curbing yearly CO2 emissions by 130,000 tons.

Iberdrola says it has taken a leading role in bringing wind power to Eastern Europe, with wind capacity of close to 4,500 MW.
